Customs foils bid to smuggle mobile phones at Karachi airport

KARACHI: The Customs Preventive team has recovered several costly mobile phones of different brands at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) Karachi.

According to the details, Deputy Collector Customs Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) Yousaf Ali Khan Magsi received credible information regarding smuggling of mobile phone on which the security was beefed up and staff was deputed in civil dress to apprehend the culprit.

At the arrival of the airport, the staff of the Customs Preventive intercepted a passenger to check his luggage as well as travel documents. During the search, the team of Customs Preventive found 850 expensive mobile phones.

The source informed Customs Today that the passenger had arrived from the Saudi Arabia by Saudi Airline’s flight No SV704 whereas the total value of the recovered cellular phones of different brands is Rs 3.5 million.
