KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has successfully recovered more hides of the donkey worth millions of rupees in a raid at Maripor Warehouse.
According to the details, the customs team under the supervision of the Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza on the information of the arrested culprits involved in the smuggling raided a warehouse in Maripor and recovered more than three hundred hides of Donkey worth millions of rupees.
Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza informed Customs Today that the culprits used to smuggle donkey hides through sea route to the neighbouring country China on boats. He said that the police was in syndicate as it was Customs Preventive who shared the details of the smuggling with them.
The customs officers are further investigating with the arrested seven culprits including a foreigner Tu Zhong Xiao and women busted in a raid. Who is the master mind and how they were used to smuggle the hides as well as from when they are involved in this heinous crime will be investigated, informed Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza.
The police in the information of the Customs authorities conducted a raid at a shop in Gulestan-e-Juhar Block 12 and recovered 295 sakes filled with the 4736 donkey hides worth Rs110 million.
Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza further revealed that one hide of the donkey worth Rs25,000 in the market. The court has handed over the all the seven culprits including a foreigner Tu Zhong Xiao and women named Masmat Afshan for seven day remand.
The source informed that the Donkey hides were sent to Karachi from Lahore and it was being smuggled to China. In China donkey hides have huge demand and besides making other valuable items, Gilatin is made by the hide which is used in manufacturing of a medicine named Ejiao very useful for the blood related illness.
