Peshawar MCC earns Rs268.99m from 10 auctions of impounded vehicles & goods

PESHAWAR: With the directions given by the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue, the Model Customs Collectorate of Peshawar is trying its level best to meet the assigned revenue targets. In this regard, the MCC Peshawar held 10 auctions of impounded vehicles and goods during 10 months (July to April) of Financial Year 2016-17. The MCC Peshawar held almost one auction every month and collected RS268.99million all duty and taxes during above said 10 months.
According to Fazle Samad, Additional Deputy Collector MCC Peshawar, with the guidelines given by Federal Board of Revenue, the Peshawar Collectorate is trying its level best to reach its assigned revenue collection targets. The Collectorate of Peshawar has forwarded above said instructions of the FBR to other customs stations working under the umbrella of the MCC Peshawar like Customs Station Kohat, Torkham, Peshawar Dry Port, BKIAP and some others to make more and more seizures of smuggled goods and hold auctions so that the MCC Peshawar can reach the assigned revenue target.
He said the collectorate held its first auction of impounded goods and vehicles during July FY16-17 and collected Rs13.61million all duty and taxes, held 2nd auction during August FY16-17 and earned Rs19.92million, held 3rd auction during September and earned Rs30.31million.
The 4th auction was held during October FY16-17 and the auction cell of the MCC Peshawar collected Rs16.24million all duty and taxes. The 5th auction was held during November Rs32.53million was collected. The 6th auction was held during December and the MCC collected Rs24.65million all duty taxes.
From 7th auction which was held during January FY16-17, the auction cell of the MCC Peshawar collected Rs18.73million and from the 8th auction held February FY16-17, the auction cell earned Rs40.22million.
The MCCP auction cell held its 9th auction during March FY16-17 and earned the biggest collection of Rs45.49million among other auctions held during the current Financial Year 2016-17. The auction cell earned Rs26.68million all duty and taxes during April FY16-17 through 10th auction of seized impounded goods and vehicles.
