M/s A.K Marketing moves SHC for early disposal of appeal

KARACHI: M/s A. K Marketing moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking order for early disposal of its appeal pending before the Commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals-I on the demand notice for recovery of disputed amount.

Counsel for the petitioner stated that he is engaged in the business of import and retail of textile items and paying all the government taxes properly, however Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Audit Unit-III Large Taxpayer Unit-I issued demand notice for recovery of disputed amount.

According to the petitioner, he approached Commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals-I and moved an appeal along with a stay application which is pending before it, however during the pendency of such appeal, said respondent issued notice for enforced recovery.

Citing Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU-I), Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue Audit Unit-III Large Taxpayer Unit-I and Commissioner Inland Revenue Appeals-I as respondents, petitioner pleaded with the court to direct the CIR Appeals to decide its appeal within the reasonable period and till final disposal of its appeal, respondents may restrain from taking any coercive action.
