Customs Appellate Tribunal dismisses cases filed by M/s Wahid Hamid, Premier Formica Industries

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Appellate Tribunal has dismissed customs references filed by M/s Wahid Hamid and M/s Premier Formica Industries. Chairman Justice (r) Manzoor Hussain heard the cases. The bench had reserved decision on cases.

M/s Wahid Hamid had filed a case against MCC, Peshawar for auctioning imported items despite the tribunal had announced a decision for their release.

M/s Premier Formica Industries had also filed a case against department for seizing imported wood goods. The department’s adjudication had maintained the seizure and the appellant then approached the tribunal.  Chairman, Justice (r) Malik Manzoor Hussain held hearing on cases filed against Directorate General of Investigation and Intelligence, Islamabad and Collectorate of Customs, Islamabad and Peshawar. M/S Pakistan Royal Group, M/s Irfan Ullah and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had filed these cases.

The appellants had filed cases challenging announcements made by the DGI&I, Islamabad. All three cases were filed in 2016.

M/s Pakistan Royal Group and M/s Charisma Catering Islamabad had asked the tribunal to direct the department to release the imported items which were confiscated by the customs authorities under alleged attempts to smuggling.

M/s Irfan Ullah had prayed the tribunal to order the department to release his vehicle which the authorities had stated as cut and weld. DGI&I officers had confiscated the vehicle and adjudication sustained vehicle’s confiscation.
