Customs court sends accused on physical remand booked in removal of pay-order

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi sent an accused, Muhammad Yousuf son of Babu, to Customs Department’s lockup on physical remand till May 09, 2017. He was booked in a case of illegal removal of pay-order worth Rs02.1million.

During the hearing, investigation officer produced the accused before the court and informed it that the pay-order No: 3176009 dated 03/02/2014 amounting to Rs02.1miilion issued by Standard Chartered Bank, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, was deposited against GD of unauthorized importer (s) illegally and Muhammad Yousuf was alleged to remove the mentioned pay-order illegally from the securities section of the collectorate.

The FIR added that accused was asked to clarify his position from time to time but he intentionally avoided attending the preliminary investigation therefore case was registered against him in violation of Sections 32A of the Customs Act- 1969 punishable under clause 14A of Section 156(I) of the Customs Act-1969.

After his arguments, court sent him to Customs Department’s lockup on physical remand and directed to investigation officer to produce him on the next date of hearing.
