LONDON: U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher. At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.06%. The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intu Properties PLC (LON:INTUP), which rose 2.15% or 5.80 points to trade at 275.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) added 2.10% or 170.00 points to end at 8250.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.06% or 26.00 points to 1286.00 in late trade. The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which fell 2.04% or 21.00 points to trade at 1009.50 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 2.02% or 15.50 points to end at 753.50 and Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) was down 1.90% or 32.00 points to 1652.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1017 to 891 and 458 ended unchanged. Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.09% or 1.07 to $1227.97 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.74% or 0.34 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.92% or 0.45 to trade at $48.65 a barrel. GBP/USD was down 0.31% to 1.2940, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8446. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 98.98.
