Hyderabad customs impounds truck & contraband items valued Rs12.00m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Investigation and Intelligence’s Field Investigation Unit (FIU) has impounded a non-duty paid used Hino truck and 29,000 liter hydrocarbon oil along with an oil tanker besides seizing various contraband items including cumin seeds worth Rs12.00million involving duty/taxes of Rs03.8million during the April of fiscal year 2017.

The Customs FIU, following directives of Customs Intelligence Director General Shaukat Ali and Director Tahir Qureshi, foiled many attempts to smuggle hydrocarbon oil, cloths, cumin seeds and other items, into Pakistan.

The raiding party, under the supervision of Deputy Director Haroon Waqar Malik comprising Superintendent Qasim Ali Alvi, Inspector Irfan Ghani, Inspector Noor Muhammad Shah, Inspector Anis Ahmed, Ahmed Hussain Juonejo, Sepoys Ghayas Ahmed Shah, Imran Ali Azam Chandio, Moin Khan, Noshad Khan Rao, Abdul Sattar Driver Hanif Soomro, Janib Crub and others, took active part in the action against smugglers during April-2017.

The Hyderabad FIU impounded a non-duty paid used Hino truck with registration No: TKA-325 valued Rs03million involving duty taxes of Rs02.1million.

Besides, Hyderabad FIU confiscated 29,000 liters of smuggled hydrocarbon oil along with an oil tanker with registration No: TUB-730 worth Rs03.5million involving duty/taxes of Rs583906 and non-duty-paid 898 crates of Rani Juice priced Rs862080 involving duty/taxes Rs202842 non-duty paid 10 bundles of gents viscose cloths weighed 01120 kg valued Rs888470 involving duty taxes of Rs404392 and 100-PP smuggled bags weighed 2,500 kg of cumin seeds worth Rs02.5million involving duty taxes of Rs274617.

The FIU also confiscated 12,000 crates of smuggled Rani juice worth Rs01.8million involving duty taxes of Rs289058 during said period.
