KUALA LUMPUR: The public can witness that the brightest meteor showers in year will produce amazing fireworks in the sky over Britain next week.
The Malaysian National Space Agency (Angkasa) in a statement yesterday said the meteor shower had begun on Dec 3 and was likely to continue until Dec 17, hitting its peak this weekend.
“However, this year, their appearance would be somewhat limited because it concincides with the full moon phase,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the best time to see the meteor shower was from 8pm to midnight and no special equipment was required because it could be seen by the naked eye.
Angkasa also advised the public to choose clear spaces which were not obstructed by buildings and trees like the beachfront and fields, albeit making sure they stayed in groups and informed authorities about their whereabouts.
