Peshawar ASO earns Rs25.7m by impounding vehicles & goods during 15 days of 2016-17

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Peshawar collected Rs25.7million by impounding Non-Duty-Paid vehicles and various kinds of smuggled goods from 1st to 15th of May of Financial Year FY2016-17.

According to Zakir Muhammad, Deputy Collector ASO Peshawar, during the first 15 days of May FY16-17, the ASO Peshawar impounded four NDP vehicles worth Rs0.7million whereas it seized various kinds of smuggled goods like foreign origin fabrics, fake cigarettes, food grains, mobile phones and miscellaneous goods valued Rs25million.
The ASO Peshawar impounded 627 offending vehicles used for carrying smuggled goods and Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles during 10 months (July to April) of Financial Year FY2016-17. The prices of the said vehicles is appraised Rs901.98million. The ASO also seized 32.821 kilogram of gold/silver during said period of Financial Year 2016-17.
During 10 months (July to April 16-17), the ASO confiscated 384 offending vehicles worth Rs549.45million, adding, that the offending vehicles are played a main role in promoting smuggling activities in the region, remarked. He added that the ASO Peshawar always tried to discourage the illegal businesses.
During above said period, the ASO seized 243 NDP vehicles valued Rs352.530million. The vehicles were impounded by different ASOs of Kohat, Nowshera, Peshawar, Hazara and many other parts of the Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Peshawar.
During the first 10 months (July to April 2016-17), the ASO MCC Peshawar also seized 32.821 kilogram of gold/silver during different seizures by different customs stations like Torkham and Bacha Khan International Airport Peshawar. The value of the seized gold/silver is Rs125.4million.
The ASO Peshawar impounded smuggled gold, goods and Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) and offending vehicles worth Rs1797.488million during 09 months (July to March) of Financial Year FY2016-17 adding that the ASO did 345 offending vehicles priced Rs482.000million, and the it impounded 209 NDP vehicles worth Rs482.000million.
