ASO Faisalabad seizes smuggled art-silk cloths priced Rs09.3m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad seized a imported foreign origin (F/O) art silk dyed cloths in assorted colors weighed 15,980 kilogram worth Rs09.3million involving duty and taxes of Rs05.00million.

The smuggled cloths were being transported from Peshawar to Faisalabad through a Hino truck (10-wheeler) having registration No: SUA-072 fully loaded with smuggled cloths. The ASO team intercepted the vehicle near Bypass Chowk, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad. On the search of the said truck, imported art-silk dyed cloths packed in bales were recovered.

The ASO asked accused Rehmat Ali son of Muhammad Khurshid, a resident of tehsil and district Multan, to produce the legal documentary proofs of the said cloths. He produced only a bilty numbered 511 dated 11-05-2017 which showed parchoon of 15-Tons. He also stated that he is coming to Faisalabad first time with this vehicle from the goods transport company.

The cloths were seized under Section 2(s) read with SRO 566(1) 2005 dated 6-06-2005 Section 178 of the Customs Act 1969 and Section 3 of Sales Tax Act-1990 and Section 148 of Income Tax Ordinance 2001.

The seizure report has been forwarded to adjudication department for further investigation.
