Global Youth Convention organises meeting against drugs addiction, prevention

LAHORE: Global NGO organised Youth Convention against Drugs Addiction and Prevention at the Al-Hamrah hall here on Thursday.

A large number of university and college students from Lahore and other cities attended the convention. Force Commander ANF Brigadier Khalid Mehmood Goraya participated in the convention as chief guest and shared his support for Global Youth Club Against Drugs (SWAD).

On this occasion, he said law enforcement agencies had made all out efforts to stop smuggling of drugs, adding that the law enforcement agencies also conducted successful operations in FATA to curb the drugs smuggling.

He said law enforcement agencies were also taking measures to stop entering drug pushers in the country, adding that more than 100 drug smugglers were arrested by the ANF and their cases had been sent to courts.

He also highlighted the role of police to eliminate drugs from towns and villages besides arresting the accused involved in this menace.

He said awareness seminars against drugs were being organised in colleges and universities to make the country drug free. Global Welfare Organization Central President Dr Zafar Iqbal Mian, Dr Sameera Bukhari, Dr Saqib Bajwa, Asst Professor Psychiatry, Dr Farasat Ali Dogar, Asst Professor Psychiatry Sir Ganga Ram hospital, Sehrish Noor, Clinical Psychologist, Sobia Ikram, Program Manager, Waska Mehmood Program coordinator, Sobia Chaudhry Coordinator and Dr Shafique Anjum conducted a training session on drugs addiction with participants.

Later, Force Commander ANF Brigadier Khalid Mehmood Goraya distributed certificates among the participants while Central President Dr Zafar Iqbal Mian presented souvenir to the Force Commander.
