Islamabad ASO confiscates mobiles & truck valued Rs06.00m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad seized mobiles phones, DSLR cameras and other goods along with an offending vehicle worth Rs6.00million from GT Road Mandra on 20th of May 2017.

According to Rana Shakeel, Superintendent ASO Islamabad, a tip-off was shared by Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Dr. Arslan, the ASO squad established a picket near Mandra and stopped a Mazda truck with registration No: NK-7059. After a thorough search operation of the said Mazda truck, the ASO found hundreds of foreign origin mobile phones and other smuggled goods.

The ASO staff asked the possessor of the truck to show the legal proof of the goods loaded on the truck but he failed to do so.
During the search, the ASO staff seized 433 mobile phones, 58 DSLR cameras, five external lenses, 135 kilogram of data and power cables. The worth of seized smuggled goods is R5.00million whereas the value of offending vehicle is Rs1.00million.

The ASO shifted all the above said smuggled goods along with Mazda truck to State Ware House and filed an FIR against the tax evaders.
The case has been forwarded to Investigation and Prosecution Department (I&P) for further action.
