ISLAMABAD: Due to transporters’ 10-day strike at Karachi, the Islamabad dry port (IDP) showed a lesser collection of Rs90million of customs duty during the 1st to 22nd May of Financial Year (FY2016-17) against the collection of same period of corresponding FY2015-16.
The IDP generated Rs218million of CD during the initial 22 days of May 2016-17 whereas the IDP collected Rs328.00million during the same period of corresponding Financial Year 2015-16. The collection is lesser during the initial 22 days against same period of corresponding year as transporters refused to carry goods from the ports to the markets after the strike.
The sources said that now the situation is getting normal and containers are reaching the IDP from Karachi Terminal.
The dry port received Rs3006million of CD during the 1st July to 22nd May FY2016-17 while the IDP did Rs2382million during the same period of corresponding FY2015-16.
During the month of April FY2016-17, IDP got Rs333.874million of CD whereas the IDP collected Rs221million during the same period of FY15-17.
The IDP collected Rs302million of CD during the month of March 2016-17 against the assigned target of Rs293million whereas the dry port received Rs.285 million of customs duty against the assigned target of Rs.230 million during February FY2016-17.
