Islamabad Customs earns Rs 19.20m in auction of smuggled goods, vehicles

ISLAMABAD: Customs auction cell of model customs collectorate (MCC) Islamabad earned Rs19.20million by selling impounding goods and Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles through public auction held on 23rd of May of Financial Year (FY) 2016-17 at State Warehouse, G-11 Islamabad.

Collector Islamabad appreciated Islamabad auction cell for holding a well-organized auction and fetching a handsome amount to the treasury. It was the 2nd auction MCC auction cell held during May FY16-17. The MCC auction cell held the first auction on 13th of May 2016-17.
Auction was organized by government’s authorized “Alvi Auctioneers” and Customs staff under the supervision of Assistant Collector Auction. Auctioneers had deposited 25% out of the total worth of the lots they purchased through auction. Auction cell collected Rs9.77million through sale of various kinds of smuggled goods including scrape, LED TVs, foreign origin fabric and auto parts and cosmetics.
Auction cell earned Rs9.43million through auction of impounded NDP vehicles. Out of 18 NDP vehicles, 14 were sold in today’s auction.
It was the 8th auction held under the supervision of Islamabad collectorate. The auction cell will organize another sale of goods during the next month (June FY16-17) to pursue the revised revenue target of current financial year 2016-17.
