Hyderabad ASO impounds smuggled diesel pumps priced Rs896000

HYDERABAD : Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized illegally imported foreign origin 112 sacks of diesel pumps worth Rs896000 involving duty and taxes of Rs572992 during an action near Bypass Hyderabad. The smuggled goods truck was being taken to Lahore from Karachi.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro received a tip-off that some smugglers are planning to smuggle foreign origin diesel pumps. ASO constituted a raiding party comprising Ghulam Shabbir Phulpoto (superintendent ASO), Hyderabad Inspector Iqbal Mughal, Inspector Mirza Asad Uddin, Inspector Abid Ahmad Khan, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Sepoys and a driver.

The raiding party asked the driver to produce the documents regarding the legal import of diesel pumps but he failed to do so. Upon his failure, goods were seized under the customs bylaws.
