Customs Court grants bail to PIA air-hostess involved gold smuggling

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved the bail of an air-hostess of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) involved in gold smuggling. She was booked by the authorities while making an attempt to smuggle gold to New York.

According to details, the air-hostess, Nuzhat Bukhari, was arrested by the Customs authorities from Allama Iqbal International airport Lahore. The customs prosecution team presented her before the court for remand where she confessed to her crime. After that the court sent her to jail for judicial trial. She was in jail since July 2016.

On Friday Special Judge of the Customs Court Shakeel Ahmad accepted her bail against cash guarantee of Rs 500,000.

Earlier, the customs had claimed that they have recovered 2.5 kilograms of gold from the possession of Nuzhat.  She was a senior Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) airhostess and was trying to smuggle gold from Allama Iqbal International Airport in connection with an attempt to smuggle two kilograms of gold to New York.
