Peshawar ASO impounds goods & vehicles valued Rs74.48m from 1st to 26th of May

PESHAWAR: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Peshawar impounded various kinds of smuggled goods, Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles and offending vehicles (vehicles used for carrying smuggled goods) worth Rs74.48million during 1st to 26th of May of Financial Year (FY) 2016-17.

According to Zakir Muhammad, Deputy Collector ASO Peshawar, the performance of the ASO squad is good during the month of May FY2016-17. During said period, the ASO impounded six NDP vehicles whereas the ASO Peshawar did 10 offending vehicles and seized different types of smuggled goods valued millions and lodged cases against tax evaders.
Telling the details of 10 initial months of financial year, he said the ASO Peshawar impounded 627 offending and Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) vehicles during 10 months (July to April) of Financial Year (FY) 2016-17. The value of said vehicles is estimated Rs901.98million.

The ASO also seized 32.821 kilogram of gold/silver during said period of Financial Year 2016-17.
Deputy Collector said that during 10 months (July to April 16-17), the ASO impounded 384 offending vehicles worth Rs549.45million. The offending vehicles play a main role in promoting smuggling activities in the region. He said the ASO Peshawar always tried to discourage the non-tax-paid activities and encourage the proper business activities for promotion legal businesses.
Telling the details about NDP vehicles during above said period, the ASO impounded 243 NDP vehicles worth Rs352.530million. Said vehicles were impounded from different parts like Kohat, Nowshera, Peshawar and Hazara customs stations.
During the first 10 months (July to April 2016-17), the ASO MCC Peshawar also seized 32.821 kilogram of gold/silver during different attempts by different customs stations like Torkham and Bacha Khan International Air port Peshawar. The seized gold/silver’s worth was Rs125.4million.
