Islamabad ASO confiscates cigarette packing film & vehicle worth Rs4.00m

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad seized a big quantity of smuggled cigarette packing film along with an offending vehicle (vehicle used for carrying smuggled goods) valued Rs4.00million from GT Rawalpindi-Peshawar on 26th of May FY2016-17.

According to ASO Islamabad, ASO squad, on a tip-off, set up a picket on GT Road Peshawar–Rawalpindi and intercepted a Mazda truck with registration No: R-7732. During the checking, the ASO staff found abovementioned item weighed 1200 kilogram.
ASO staff asked the possessors of goods to show the legal documents of the goods but they failed to do so. The estimated value of cigarette packing film is Rs2.8million whereas the value of offending vehicle is Rs1.2million.
After seizing the goods, ASO staff shifted the smuggled goods to state warehouse and registered an FIR against the smugglers and tax evaders.
