Belgium stocks continue to slip; BEL 20 down 0.07%

BRUSSELS: Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.07%.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.39% or 1.47 points to trade at 63.06 at the close. Meanwhile, bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.19% or 0.26 points to end at 21.67 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.87% or 0.12 points to 13.37 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which fell 2.02% or 0.66 points to trade at 31.98 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.71% or 1.280 points to end at 73.380 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was down 1.26% or 0.190 points to 14.930.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 63 to 52 and 11 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.44% or 5.59 to $1262.51 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.06% or 0.53 to hit $49.27 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.76 to trade at $51.88 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1176, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8701.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 97.28.
