NDP car valued Rs3.00m impounded due to fake documents

ISLAMABAD: Customs Car Cell Islamabad impounded a Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) Toyota Hilux Surf due to fake documents. The said NDP vehicle was impounded from Mandra and its worth was appraised Rs3.00million.

According to Deputy Collector Car Cell Anser Anees that on a tip-off shared by Collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad, the Car Cell formed a squad and carried out a raid on Rawat city where the NDP vehicle was roaming with a fake number plate BB-194A Sindh.

The Car Cell intercepted the vehicle and asked the possessor to show the legal documents of the vehicle but he presented a bogus book. After the firsthand investigation, the car cell impounded the vehicle and brought it to the state warehouse.

The car has been impounded under the Customs Act-1969 and the documents of vehicle have been sent for further examination to the I&P Department. The car was coming from Sindh.

The staff, taking part in the said seizure, comprised Superintend Rana Shakeel, Inspector Ch. Safdar and Sepoy Bilal.
