The above said customs team started checking of wooden consignments which were being imported from Malaysia. During examination it was revealed that M/s Shabbir Wooden Works imported some wooden consignments and tried to clear the same by declaring its less weight. The above said company also tried to cause a loss of Rs8.46,000 to national exchequer.

After detecting the mis-declaration, Customs Port Qasim authorities imposed a fine of Rs1,00,000 to the above said company. The management of M/s Shabbir Wooden Works deposited the evaded amount of taxes along with fine in national kitty.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs teams deputed at Port Qasim expedited their efforts to curb consignments being cleared through mis-declaration as these practices are causing huge loss to national economy.
