FIA disowned Rehman Malik’s enquiry against Sharif family

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in 2000 had disowned an inquiry initiated by Rehman A Mailk, fomer additional director general of FIA, against the Sharif family regarding Hudybia Papers Mills.

The FIA vide its letter dated January 28, 2000 had informed the Ministry of Interior that Rehaman Malik was himslef probing the matters pertaining to alleged corruption and money laundering by the Sharif family. Howver, no formal enquiries had been initiated by him in most of the cases.

Replying to the ministry’s letter dated November 2, 1999, the FIA had said that the enquiry was initiated by Rehman Malik in his personal capacity as neither any notification in this regard was issued nor any official record was present with the Agency.
