FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation team has seized 839,515 liters smuggled diesel oil worth Rs66,000,000 during a successful operation.
Sources told Customs Today, that on special instructions of Director General Shaukat Ali the customs intelligence has started crackdown against smugglers.
The director received information regarding the smuggling of oil. On this a team comprising Deputy Director Abdul Moueed, Syed Itrat Hussain Superintendent Saleem ullah, Muhammad Tahir formed check posts at main entry and exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles.
During the checking of vehicles, the team intercepted an oil tanker near Jhang Road. During checking of the tanker the team found non duty paid Kerosene oil , High Speed Diesel.
The team asked the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Hamza Khan son of Jumma Khan to provide legal documents regarding the import of oil but he remained failed to produce the same. On this the team confiscated the diesel along with vehicle.
The customs team after taking the custody of the diesel and tanker under sections 2 (s) 16 and 18 of the Customs Act, 1969 started investigations.
