Islamabad customs adjudication orders seizure of imported NDP auto-parts

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Customs Adjudication Islamabad Dr. Wajid Ali has ordered confiscation of non-duty-paid smuggled new and old auto parts. The seizure was made by the Customs Preventive Division MCC Islamabad. The offending vehicle Suzuki pickup was released against the fine of 20 percent value of the vehicle with a warning that if found involved in such activity again then it will be impounded outright.

It was reported that assistant collector customs received an information that foreign origin miscellaneous new and old used auto parts would be smuggled from Peshawar by a Suzuki pickup with registration No: LHO 8180. On a tip-off, a raiding party of the Customs Preventive set up a picket.

In the meantime, the tipped vehicle was intercepted. A thorough search led to a recovery of imported parts. The drivers of the vehicle, identified themselves as Ibrahim son of Ghulam Mir Rehman, Nasir Khan son of Younas Gul and Muhammad Umar son of Syed Umer, residents of Peshawar, were asked to produce the legal documents of the goods but they failed to do so.

Dr. Wajid has issued Order-In-Original in a seizure case. Regarding the offending vehicle, he said the seized auto parts were not found concealed in any specially designed cavities of the Suzuki pickup therefore he released it against the 20% fine and with a warning if it was found involved in trafficking again then it will be impounded directly.
