DC Ansir bravely impounds smuggled goods loaded bus after chase of over three hrs

ISLAMABAD: Ansir Anics, Deputy Collector of Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad, impounded Akhtar Daewoo Service passenger bus herself alone.

The bus was carrying huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs1.5million. The offending vehicle (vehicle used for carrying smuggled goods) was impounded second time in the same case. The possessor of smuggled goods also hit the vehicle of Deputy Collector. The value of the offending vehicle was estimated Rs2.00million.
According to Deputy Collector ASO Islamabad that on a tip-off that a passenger bus with registration No: KB-1655 was coming from Peshawar towards Punjab. She tried to call her ASO squad but unluckily it could not reach the pointed spot so she decided to reach the spot herself alone. When she reached the pointed spot for interception of said bus, the bus changed its route and started travelling to Chakwal bypass. The Deputy Collector, with the assistance of Chakwal Police, intercepted the bus.
She told CT that she had to chase the bus for three and a half hours. Ultimately the bus was impounded and an FIR registered with the arrest of the smuggler under Section 85C of the Customs Act-1969. The arrested person is on remand for three days.
