ISLAMABAD: Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) on Wednesday dated in office the hearing on a tax matter challenging issuance of show cause notice to M/s Aftab Traders.
ATIR Account Member Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Bhatti resumed the hearing on the case and date dated in office due to extensive hearing on some other matters at the tribunal.
This case, filed by M/S Aftab Traders, was heard by the bench for the first time and adjourned. The bench was hearing a matter remanded back to tribunal by the Islamabad High Court with directions to decide fate of the matter lawfully. The appellant had challenged the earlier announcement by the tribunal terming that clauses of income tax were ignored.
It had prayed the court to ensure an announcement according to the law. Following which the court had remanded back the case to the tribunal.
M/s Aftab Traders had contested show cause notices issued by the field offices of Federal Board of Revenue.
According to details, M/S Aftab Traders had challenged recovery of issued to it in head of outstanding income tax by the Regional Tax Office, Islamabad.
M/S Aftab Traders had submitted the department had issued the demand for the tax year 2012 in head of income tax under provisions of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of RTO including Commissioner Inland Revenue, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) were are respondents in the case.
M/S Aftab Traders prayed that the assessment order issued by the RTO officer was illegal, unlawful and without legal grounds.
