Customs Adjudication declares Hino truck confiscation lawful

FAISALABAD: The Customs Adjudication Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig has ordered to confiscate a Nissan X Trail truck following the clause 156 (1)89 of Customs Act 1969.

As per details Customs Intelligence and Investigation and Field investigation unit (FIU), Sarai Muhajir staff with joint operation intercepted a Nissan X trail truck bearing registration no: AAN-772 (Quetta), near Kashmir Pull Canal Road and found the chassis number as duplicate.

Official asked the owner namely Kaleem ullah son of Qahar Khan to produce documents regarding legal import and lawful possession of the vehicle. However, he failed to present the same. After that customs impounded the vehicle and official sent chassis of the said vehicle for forensic test.

After forensic report it was revealed that self made chassis number has been welded on the actual number and it is a tempered vehicle.

Later, the Quetta Excise and Taxation’s motor registration authority was requested by the seizing agency to get the details of the vehicle. The excise informed the customs that the said vehicle was registration mark has been checked from original record and from original record and computer data base record and found no vehicle registered against subject registration mark. Further registration certificate is not issued from their office and is fake and bogus.

A seizure report was submitted by Intelligence Officer Irshad Ali to the adjudication where Collector Mirza Mubashir Baig declared the confiscation of the Hino truck lawful and issued order in original (ONO) No, 9/2017 in favour of the customs intelligence authority.
