SEOUL: South Korea’s industrial production rose 0.2 percent in May from a month ago, data showed on Friday, missing analyst forecasts by a large margin.
The median forecast in a Reuters survey of economists was for industrial output index to increase 1.5 percent in May on a monthly basis. In April, factory output declined 2.2 percent on-month even as exports surged for the sixth straight month. On a year-on-year basis, industrial output rose 0.1 percent in May after a revised 1.8 percent gain April.
