LAHORE: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Advisor Mian Munawar Ghafoor postponed the hearing of an income tax refund case filed by M/s Shalimar Filling Station against the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Gujranwala till the next date.

According to the details, FTO Advisor Mian Munawar Ghafoor heard the case in which counsel for the appellant argued that the Regional Tax Office Sialkot has not released the refund to the petitioner since the last three years.

Moreover, the RTO has been collected excessive tax from the company for the last three years. On the extra collection, the company approached the officer concerned of the Regional Tax Office many times for release of refunds but he did not address his complaint even after the passage of reasonable time.

Finally the plaintiff decided to file a case in the office of the FTO seeking intervention. The counsel appealed the FTO advisor to direct the RTO to clear the refund claims to the M/s Shalimar Filling Station.

On the contrary, counsel for the RTO argued that after the complete examination of the record, the RTO will release the refunds to plaintiff.

After hearing the arguments from petitioner and recipients, the Federal Tax Ombudsman advisor has adjourned hearing of the case by next date and directed counsels to conclude their arguments during next hearing.
