Faisalabad ASO seizes smuggled art-silk cloth worth Rs25m

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad confiscated the foreign origin art-silk cloth weighed 15,980-kg. The market value of the seized cloth is Rs25million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs05million besides impounding a Hino truck worth Rs02.5million.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Model Customs Faisalabad Muhammad Sadiq received a tip-off about the above said smuggled cloth. Soon after receiving the information, he formed a raiding team comprising Muhammad Javed Mehmood (Superintendent), Faizi Raza and Safdar Ali (Inspectors), Muhammad Ashraf and Hafiz Naseer (Sepoys).

The ASO team intercepted a Hino truck (10-Wheeler) with registration No: SUA-072 near Bypass Chowk, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad, and seized the foreign origin silk cloth. The team asked the driver of the truck, identified as Rehmat Ali son of Muhammad Khurshid, to provide the legal documents of the possession of the silk cloth but he failed to do so. The ASO team seized the cloth and registered a case against the accused persons.
