Hyderabad FIU confiscates 399 & 64 cartons of Juice & chocolate respectively

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad FIU seized 399 cartons of non-duty-paid Rani Juice and 64 cartons of chocolate. The impounded items are said to be worth Rs644680 involving duty and taxes of Rs171543.

The Customs Investigation and Intelligence, Field Investigation Unit (FIU), confiscated the said non-duty-paid foreign origin Rani Juice and 64 cartons of chocolate in an operation near Hatri Bypass Hyderabad during the month of June 2017. The smuggled items were being transported from Karachi to Multan.

A team of the FIU, following a tip-off received by Superintendent Qaim Ali Alvi, established a check-post near Hatri Bypass Hyderabad to seize the non-duty-paid Juice and Chocolate.

The team, comprising Sepoys Noshad Khan, Azam Ali Chandio, Muhammad Imran, Ghayas Ahmad Shah and Driver Hanif Somroo under the supervision of Customs Intelligence Officer Irfan Ghani, intercepted a public vehicle at the said check-post. The team recovered 399 cartons non-duty-paid cartons of Rani Juice and non-duty paid 64 cartons of Chocolate.

Prior to the recovery, the ASO staff asked the possessor to produce the legal documents regarding the possession and transportation of the Juice & Chocolate. After his failure, the ASO seized both items.

After registering a case, the team deposited the confiscated Rani Juice and chocolate into the Hyderabad state warehouse and forwarded the case to the Customs I&P for further investigation.
