PM announcement of Rs700m for machinery

GILGIT: Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeez ur Rehman here on Thursday said the announcement of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to provide Rs 700 million for purchase of latest machinery and Rs200 million for setting of endowment fund for effective disasters management has been practically materialized as machinery was distributed among different districts of the province today.

Addressing a function in connection with distribution of state of the machinery purchased for effective disasters management among different districts of GB, the Chief Minister said the dream of Prime Minister to provide state of the art facilities to GB government for effective disasters management has been materialized today as latest machinery was handed over to different districts that can be utilized for people’s service during calamities.

In the past, he said, disasters management like important sector was completely ignored and no significant allocations were made for it in the budget. “The people of GB was thankful to the Prime Minister for a huge Rs700 million package announced by him during his visit to Skardu for purchase of state of the art machinery and ensuring quick release of the funds in this regard,” said He said PMLN government believed in practical works rather than hallow slogans and the purchase of latest machinery was an ample proof of it.

The Chief Minister said no funds were allocated for disasters management in the past, saying the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif while realizing this situation had also announced Rs200 annual endowment fund under which Rs150 million was being provided by the Federal Government and Rs 50 was being injected by the GB Government and this process would continue till next five years to strengthen Provincial Disasters Management Authority on financial front to cope with any situation.

As many 10 Fork lifters were purchased besides allocation for funds in ADP this year for purchase of machines for metling of roads and highways on international standards as such kinds of machinery was not available in the past.

The first ever Nawaz Sharif MRI machine of the province would be inaugurated this month while developmental budget was enhanced from Rs 9 billion to Rs18 billion for which his government and people are thankful to the Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister said the opponents who had completely failed to provide any relief to masses and made record corruption during their respective tenure, were came out again by leveling baseless allegations against PML(N) government, adding all the propaganda of opponents has been rejected by masses as they had completely failed to prove any allegation.

He said 100pecent transparency has been ensured in purchase of machinery. He said establishment of peace and elimination of corruption was his top priority and that peace has been completely restored in the province due to effective policies of PMLN Government.

He said merit, transparency and good governance was the hallmark of PMLN government and strict action would be taken against any irregularity.

The Chief Minister highly appreciated Department of Civil and Works, Disasters Management GB and Sultan Mehmood and Sons Company for ensuring complete transparency in purchase of the machinery and its quick delivery.

He said all necessary machinery would be distributed in all the districts besides strict implementation on Standard Operating Procedure.
