FBR conditionally allows renewal of customs agents’ licenses

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), through SRO 564(I)/2017, has conditionally allowed renewal of customs agent license.

The FBR also imposed condition that the license of the customs agent shall valid for the last 10 years and no criminal proceedings have been initiated or pending before the licensee.

The time validity for license has been extended through SRO 564(I)2017 by amending Customs Rules, 2001.

The SRO also inserted a new clause regarding responsibilities of customs agent license, stating that a customs agent shall not appear, act, plead or represent before any officer of customs, in any proceedings under the Customs Act 1969 at the time of filing of goods declaration, except where accompanied by the importer in person.
