LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has urged the Pakistan foreign missions to establish display centres and organise single-country exhibitions for Pakistani products to secure due place in the global market.
“Display centres for Pakistani merchandise as well as cultural centres would highlight the industrial strength of the country around the globe, while cultural centres would attract foreigners to discover beauty and heritage of this beautiful piece of land.”
In a statement issued here, LCCI President Abdul Basit and Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan said that unprecedented moves should be taken to enhance Pakistan’s exports, though the country has all resources to become an ‘Export Power House’. They said that now foreign missions of the developed countries were playing the role of ‘Economic Ambassadors’.
They said that we would have to shift our focus from the developed countries to the emerging markets, where scope for Pakistani products was much higher. The LCCI office-bearers said that growth rate in most of developed countries was slowing down, while developing economies were expected to grow around 8% annually. That means that there would be more opportunities in developing countries than the developed world and their emerging market performance would be great.
They cited the example of Japanese companies whose growth is driving largely by progress in emerging markets. They said that we have to target middle and low-class of the developing countries that could give massive boost to the Pakistani products. They said that the government should support the export-oriented industry and take relief measures that would make it possible for the sector to flourish.
