Saudi Customs participates in World Customs Organization meetings in Brussels

RIYADH: Saudi Customs participated under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Director General of Customs, Mr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Hagbani in the World Customs Organization meetings at its 129-130 which will be held during the period from July 2017 4-8 at the headquarters of the Organization in the Belgian capital Brussels.

The meetings included a number of issues of customs affairs, notably a working group to facilitate the implementation of the report of the Trade Agreement to be reviewed in terms of what has been completed during the meeting of the working group responsible for the discussion of trade facilitation agreement addressing. The agenda will also include a discussion of the security initiative, which is currently adopted by the World Customs Organization to counter terrorism, smuggling and commercial fraud file, plus it was discussed during the meetings of the importance of border coordination, safe and effective exchange of information.

On the other hand, HE Director General of Customs visited the Department of Belgian Customs, where he held during the visit, a meeting with the Belgian director of customs, the two sides discussed during the meeting to a number of topics of interest to both countries Customs and discussed aspects of future cooperation, which would contribute to the strengthening of the two economies. He also made during the days of the World Customs Organization meetings toured the Belgian port of Antwerp, which is one of the largest and most famous European ports. In addition to touring the Dutch port of Rotterdam, in order to see the progress of customs operations at these ports and benefiting from European expertise in the matter of customs.
