PESHAWAR: The Peshawar MCC committed to extending the circle of Customs Duties to the regions where they are not applied in order to enlarge the taxpayers’ list for Federal Excise Duty in the country.

The KP province generated about $28billion of duties for the total GDP growth of the federal government whereas $500million were received by the FATA during the FY 2016-2017.

The revenue amount might get booster if proper taxation is imposed on the entities still out of the tax system. Like FATA where no tax has been imposed on purchase of vehicles, and Buner and Swat of provincial affiliated tribal areas enjoy no local taxation on purchase of products among the locals.

The government needs to better enhance the taxpaying routine for which special events need to be arranged in order to eliminate the fear about tax system of Pakistan from the minds of the people.

Collector Customs Qurban Ali Khan said this at a meeting with a delegation of the MCC Peshawar the other day. The collector stressed the need for using the data-analyses for the better border management service and increasing the cooperation with the law enforcement agencies at Torkham and Khuram agencies in order to establish good image of Pakistan Customs as economic guardian of Pakistan.
