Nokia’s Here maps for Android devices added to Google Play

NEW YORK: Nokia launched Here for Android devices on Google Play these devices came with a solid maps and navigation app.

If users have been using Google Maps also a free, and often pre-installed, Android app for their GPS navigation needs, they might wonder what would be the point of installing Nokia’s offering. But while Maps is more about, well, maps, Nokia Here is much more akin to a standard, GPS, voice-guided navigation app and those usually do not come free.

Another important feature is offline maps, letting users download all the maps they need to their phone, which enables them to use the app while offline. With this update, Nokia has also included voice-guided navigation for 18 new countries, mostly in Africa, bringing the total number of countries supported to 118.

The news isn’t so good for iPhone users Here won’t be available for iOS until early 2015.
