Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled Iran made chocolates worth Rs01.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated the chocolate coconut bars valued Rs01.5million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs875500.

Sources told Customs Today that following a tip-off received through Deputy Director Ittrat Hussain, the FIU intelligence team, comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officer Ansar Saleemi, Muhammad Saleem and Sepoys, intercepted a trailer with registration No: C-1999 loaded with chocolate coconut bars (48,000+Bars) made in Iran.

To a query, Driver Mudassar Ali son of Noor Muhammad produced different slips issued by c/o Muddassar Ali of International Goods Transport. After the examination, the customs officials seized the item under the Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act-1969. The seizure report was forwarded to the adjudication for further legal action.
