Customs Court issues arrest warrants for suspects involved in smuggled Toyota Land Cruiser case

KARACHI: Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non- bailable warrants for two suspects, Salman Razzak Piracha and Muhammad Jameel, who were booked in non-duty paid/ smuggled Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep case.

During the hearing, the investigation officer informed the court that the accused have not been arrested, following which the court issued their arrest warrants and directed the investigation officer to produce them before the court.

According to the prosecution, officials of the customs department intercepted the Toyota Land Cruiser jeep X8 VX no LC-127 near Police Head Office I.I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi valuing Rs 3,515,273 and duty and taxes involved in Rs 93,06,184.

Case was registered against them for violation of section 2 (s) 32 and 178 of Customs Act 1969 punishable under clauses (8) (89) and 14 of section 156 ibid.
