Customs ASO seizes prohibited drugs worth Rs 1m near Babu Sabu

LAHORE:  Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized huge quantity of aphrodisiac medicines near Babu Sabu Motorway Interchange.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Customs Preventive Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary received information that a huge quantity of aphrodisiac medicines were being smuggled to Lahore. Soon after receiving the information, he constituted an anti-smuggling team comprising Superintendent Nasir Minhas, Deputy Superintendent Agha Qadeer and Inspectors, Gulzar Bhatti, Tariq Baig and Asif Nawaz.

Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

The team established a check post near Babu Sabu Interchange and recovered 13,200 Sildenafil Citrate tablets from a passenger bus. The black cobra brand medicines were owned by a passenger, Nasir Tanvir. The accused is a resident of Islamabad.

Sources said that the seized medicines are worth Rs 1 million. The anti smuggling team asked the accused person to show any documents regarding possession and transportation of seized medicines but the accused failed to show any relevant documents regarding possession of these medicines.

After his failure the anti smuggling team of Customs Preventive arrested the accused and registered a case of smuggling against him. Sources told that after fulfilling all formalities the case will be forwarded to Customs Adjudication for further proceedings.

It is necessary to mention here that Collector Customs Collectorate of Preventive Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhary directed all anti smuggling teams to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling. The collector directed to use all available resources to curb smuggling attempts in the region.
