ANF recovers 334kg drugs, nets 13 in 13 operations

RAWALPINDI: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 334 kilograms hashish worth Rs 367 million in international market and arrested 13 persons involved in drug smuggling.

According to ANF spokesman, six vehicles were also impounded in 13 operations conducted across the country.

ANF Quetta acting on a tip-off intercepted a car near general area Jungle Pir Ali Zai, Tehsil and District Qilla Abdullah. However, persons on board managed to flee from the scene taking advantage of the darkness. Search of the car led to seizure of 133 kg hashish. In another operation, ANF Quetta on pursuance of information intercepted a Hiace at Spini Road, Killi Khilji Abad, tehsil and District Quetta and recovered 128 kg hashish.

Ghulam Nabi resident of Quetta was also arrested. Yet in another operation, ANF Quetta raided near graveyard located at Sabzal Road, Quetta and seized an unattended bag containing 5.5 kg hashish.

ANF Rawalpindi while acting on an intelligence report raided a Goods Transport Company based at Jhelum city and seized 31 kg hashish concealed in a consignment containing stones.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 1.25 kg hashish from personal possession of a drug carrier identified as Abdul Ghafoor r/o Karak, arresting him near Jodana Petrol Pump, Lilla Road, Jhelum. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi apprehended a local drug peddler namely Muhammad Ehsan r/o Jhelum near Jalalpur Sharif Pull, Jhelum-Pind Dadan Khan Road, Jhelum and recovered 1.25 kg hashish from his possession. Moreover, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler namely Liaquat r/o Gilgit, recovering 430 grams hashish from his possession. He was arrested near River View Road, Van Stand, Gilgit.

ANF Lahore arrested a local drug peddler identified as Muhammad Azhar r/o Multan and recovered 500 grams hashish. In another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a car near Haroon Express Bus Stand, Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore and recovered 8.4 kg hashish. Two persons on board identified as Muhammad Bahadur and Taj Muhammad both r/o Swabi were also arrested.

Yet in another operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a car near Faizpur Motorway Toll Plaza, Lahore and recovered 15 kg hashish and arrested Nadeem r/o Khyber Agency. In addition, ANF Lahore stopped a suspected car near Sameena Chowk, Multan Road, Dera Ghazi Khan and recovered three kg hashish, arresting an accused namely Arshad Saleem r/o Dera Ghazi Khan.

ANF Peshawar intercepted a car at KKH Road, Haripur and recovered six kg hashish contained in secret cavities of the car. Three persons on board identified as Javed Iqbal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman and Sher Alam, all residents of district Kohistan were arrested on the spot.

ANF Karachi arrested a local drug peddler identified as Ameer Shah r/o Khairpur along with 800 grams hashish. He was arrested near Old Petrol Pump, Khairpur. All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are underway.
