Khushab FIU confiscates F/O smuggled aluminum valued Rs14m

FAISALABAD: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faisalabad has confiscated foreign origin aluminum worth Rs14million involving customs duty and taxes of Rs08.2million.

According to details, Superintendent Muhammad Tahir received a tip-off about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a customs team comprising Intelligence Officer Ansar Saleemi and Muhammad Siddique.

The team intercepted a truck bearing registration No: C-2877 near Mianwali Toll Plaza, M.M Road, Mianwali. During the checking, the customs team recovered F/O aluminum foil for packing of cigarettes.

The team asked the driver named Mussadaq Hussain son of Muhammad Saeed for showing the documents of its legal import. But he failed to do the same so the customs officials seized the goods under the Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 and 178 of Customs Act-1969.

The seizure report has been forwarded to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
