Faisalabad Customs Intelligence confiscates 20 smuggled tyres valued at Rs725000

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized the smuggled tyres of different brands and sizes worth Rs725000 involving duties and taxes of Rs407834 during a successful raid.

The intelligence team raided the Godown M/s Pak Hakeem and Co, New Truck Stand Faisalabad, and found 20 tyres of Green Dragon made in China. The team asked Munshi namely as Muhammad Ilyas son of Ghulam Nabi and produced bilty No: 5639 Zubair Butt issued by M/s Pak Hakeem and Co Goods Transport Agency Karachi.

But the customs authorities, after finding some discrepancies, confiscated the tyres under Section 2(s), and 16 of the Customs Act-1969 and 3(1) and 3(3) of the Import and Exports Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156(1) 89 of the Customs Act-1969.

Faisalabad Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Syed Ittrat Hussain received a tip-off regarding the smuggling of tyres. He formed a team comprising Superintendent Saleem Ullah, Intelligence Officers Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Saddique and Sepoys Muhammad Iqbal, Israr Ahmed, Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Rafique and Muhammad Tariq to curb the smuggling.
