FBR,  LTBA hold discussions to facilitate taxpayers

LAHORE: A three-day summer camp was organized under the auspices of Lahore Tax Bar Association (LTBA) in which renowned lawyers, accountants and tax practitioners from all over the country participated.

Member Inland Revenue (Policy) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Dr Mohammad Iqbal opened the ceremony. In his address to the participants, Dr Iqbal explained all the amendments made in financial act. He also hailed the decision of the LTBA to hold the summer camp. He discussed about policies to broaden the tax net while Nausheen Javaid Amjad, Member FATE FBR, replied to the questions of the participants and highlighted taxpayers facilitation and education.

Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was the chief guest.  In his address the chief justice said that he always struggled to streamline the relations between bar and bench. He said that due to exemplary relations Lahore High Court gives verdict to display wealth tax statements.

During the third day of the summer camp Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Member FATE Nausheen Javed Amjad and Member Taxpayers Audit Rehmatullah Khan Wazir was also present.  Addressing the gathering Rehmatullah Wazir said that FBR always extended its full support to tax bars of the country.

He said that audit of the filers who wants to come in the active taxpayers list would be conducted  while salaried persons will be able to get relief so far as the audit of their salaries concerned.

He said that he will always play his role to strengthen these relations in future also. Prominent among those who attended the summer camp includes ex presidents of Pakistan Tax Bar Abdul Qadir Memon, Mohammad Naeem Shah, Chaudhary Zahid Atiq and president Quetta Bar Mohammad Asif, president Sargodha Bar Association Chaudhary Naeem Aziz, president Multan Tax Bar Shabbir Fakharuddin, president Sialkot Tax Bar Association Shahid Mehmood, president Gujranwala Tax Bar Association Abid Hafeez Abid, senior vice president Pakistan Tax Bar Jameel Akhtar Baig and Barrister Afzal Hashmi, vice presidents Syed Faizul Hassan Gillani, Mohammad Iqbal Malik and other prominent lawyers also attended the three day summer camp.
