ISLAMABAD: The government is going to announce huge cut in electricity tariffs within two days, revealed the Spokesman to the Prime Minister, Musadik Malik, while talking to the media.
He said that earlier the government had also decreased the petroleum prices by Rs19 per litre during 30 days. He said that the government was struggling to tackle power crisis on priority and had carried out several power generation projects, including Dasu Dam, production of electricity with Liquefied Natural Gas CASA-1000 and others.
The Spokesman to the Prime Minister said that he along with Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visited Qatar where they held fruitful meetings with top Qatari leadership including Ameer of Qatar. He said both the sides deliberated on Broad Energy Security Framework, which covers LNG imports from Qatar, production of electricity with LNG, construction of gas pipeline between Qatar and Pakistan, fertiliser imports and agriculture sector. He further said that Qatari leadership expressed their desire to invest in Pakistan’s food and agriculture sector and land development.
Musadik also welcomed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) decision of resuming dialogue with the government and said it will bring stability in democracy and strengthen the system.
About Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan, he said soon the process of rehabilitation would begin. He said that the government was planning their safe return to their homes and this process would take four to six weeks. He said that after completion of planning, more than 1,000 families would be returning to their homes every day in North Waziristan Agency. He said the government was committed to provide better services and environment to IDPs upon their return to their homes.
