Rs182 per mound: Sindh Minister for implementing new sugarcane price

KARACHI: The Sindh government has fixed price of sugarcane at Rs182 per mound, cancelling the earlier notification.

In this regard, Sindh Minister for Agriculture, Bureau of Supply and Prices Nawaz Khan Mahar clarified that the new notification must be implemented, adding that the mill owners are bound to purchase sugarcane on fixed rates notified by the Sindh govt.

Regarding complaints of illegal deduction by mill owners, Sardar Mahar assured to stop such practice if any. He informed that Cane Commissioner and concerned officers have been strictly directed to visit sugar mills and resolve problems of growers on the spot without any delay. He further said that out of total 37 sugar mills 28 started their function and remaining mills will also start its work within few days, he added.
