RIYADH: Al-Khafji Customs foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of occupied gold weighing 16.575 sixteen kilograms and five hundred and seventy-five grams found hidden in the position of the feet of the front passenger in one of the vehicles coming to the Kingdom via Customs. Mr. Eid al-Enezi, General Manager of Al-Khafji Customs, said: “When the Customs Controller completes the customs procedures of the vehicle, that amount of gold was found hidden under the feet of the passenger without being recognized.”

The Director General of Al-Khafji Customs said that the purpose of the smuggled gold is to evade customs duties on the quantity of gold. In addition, the AML stipulates in its Article Fourteen that every traveler, whether outgoing or coming, The Kingdom, with precious metals including “gold and jewelery” or a currency of more than 60,000 (60,000) Saudi riyals, must be acknowledged and the relevant form must be filled in with customs.
