ASO seizes huge quantity of NDP goods in last week of July

FAISALABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) conducted various operations against smugglers and recovered different goods worth Rs 4058447 during last week of July 2017.

Sources told to Customs Today, that Deputy Collector Usman Tariq constituted a team to curb smuggling attempts. The ASO team consisted of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspectors Faizi Raza, Muhammad Munir Ahmed and sepoys Muhammad Ashraf, Liaquat Ali, Israr Ahmad and Muhammad Abdullah.

The ASO team seized vehicle worth Rs2,00,000 were brought into country without payment of customs duty and taxes under section ( U/S 157 ). The team also seized foreign origin auto spare parts worth Rs1,00,000 and other different items (13300 kilograms) which were also taken into custody worth Rs 2558447.

It is necessary to mention here that owners of these goods and vehicles failed to provide legal documents regarding the legal import of the items.

Faisalabad ASO seized items with the section contravened Import and Export Control Act-1950 punishable under Section 156 (1)89(i) 90 of the Customs Act 1969. The case has been forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
