Customs AFU recovers 186 bottles of alcohol, mobile accessories & other items at Allama Iqbal Airport

LAHORE: Customs officials have confiscated as many as 186 alcohol bottles from passengers travelling via different flights during checking process at Allama Iqbal International Airport during the month of July.

Sources told Customs Today that the officers conducted operations in different flights coming from Dubai, Turkey, Jeddah and Muscat to Lahore. Customs took action in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights, Turkish Airways flight, Gulf Air and Saudi Arabian Airlines.

During operations flights customs staff recovered 186 bottles of alcohol. Customs allowed all passengers to go after confiscation of alcohol bottles from their possession.

Customs has also confiscated five different LEDs of 32 and 47 inches from a passenger. Dozens of cell phones, wireless sets and mobile accessories were also recovered from Lahore airport.

The security officers have launched an investigation into the matter. Customs staff deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport has started strict checking of the luggage of the passengers specially coming from European countries. Smuggling attempts are being foiled by the customs authorities. Number of attempts of smuggling of mobile accessories and other relevant items has foiled by the customs during July. Strict checking of luggage of the hajj passengers is also continue to avoid any mishap in Hajj operations.

Customs has confiscated all the recovered alcohol bottles and has started investigation.

It is common practice that passengers coming from European countries carries bottles of alcohol with them but many times they left that in premises of airport to avoid from being arrest.
